Roadmap: from version 0.9 to Early Access and the Song dynasty

On 24 October 2026 Glyph Dynasty got a public roadmap. It is a list of versions in order, not a calendar: what comes before Early Access, what Early Access adds, and which big updates follow. Here it is with the reasoning behind it.

Before Early Access

  • 0.10, Playtest and clarity. Changes after sessions with real players: the first ten minutes, a tutorial mission, "why won’t this house grow", interface font size and a colour-blind mode
  • 1.0, Early Access. The Steam page, the demo for Next Fest, fixes after the festival, and Steam Deck with gamepad and a larger interface

The game is complete enough to play from the first Xia huts to the Han capital. What it needs now is other people: someone who has never seen it should understand in ten minutes why a house is not growing. That is what 0.10 is for.

Early Access: comfort and depth

  • 1.1, Quality of life: undo, building templates, copying a building, warehouse tasks, city statistics and graphs
  • 1.2, Festivals of the year: the Mid-Autumn Festival, dragon boats racing on the river, Qingming for the ancestors, by the calendar like the New Year
  • 1.3, Online races: First to Rise with goals set by the host, such as a population, a sum of coins, the first monument or the best city in N years
  • 1.4, Map of the day: one seed for everyone, a Steam leaderboard, and results checked by replay
  • 1.5, Water and land: canals and locks, irrigation, rice terraces, controlled floods
  • 1.6, Officials and examinations: named officials, examinations at the Taixue, corruption, reforms and edicts of the Son of Heaven
  • 1.7, League of Cities complete: the co-op from Early Access into the full version, with shared disasters and 5–8 players

A map of the day comes cheap because the simulation is deterministic: the same seed and the same actions always give the same city, so a score can be checked by replaying it. The same property carries the online co-op.

Big updates

  • 2.0, The Tang dynasty: a sixth epoch with Chang’an, monasteries and pagodas, trade with Persia, 4–5 missions
  • 2.1, Warring States: troops sent at a neighbour on the world map, battle in the defender’s city, tribute and truce, as an option for the host
  • 2.2, Together in one city: two or three rulers with roles: building, trade and court, army
  • 2.3, Editor and Workshop: your own maps and missions, shared through Steam Workshop
  • 2.4, Great constructions: the Grand Canal and the Wall across the whole map, built step by step with workers
  • 3.0, The Song dynasty: a seventh epoch with paper money, printing, gunpowder and the markets of Kaifeng

Only if players ask, and always

Rivals on one shared map, fighting over land, will be built only if players ask for it after Warring States. Between versions there is steady work: more languages (German, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Korean), capture mode contests, music of the epochs and mods with your own buildings drawn in characters.

Why no dates

Order matters more than dates, and dates set too early become promises broken later. When something is ready it will be announced, on Steam first. The same roadmap sits at the end of the development history, which shows everything that has already shipped.

Glyph Dynasty is coming to Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux. Watch the clips, follow the development history or open the press kit.
